The Intersection of New Creative Elements
Đại sứ quán New Zealand tại Việt Nam, Heritage Art Space, và Bảo tàng Phụ nữ Việt Nam trân trọng giới thiệu triển lãm nghệ thuật Rằng Ngày Mai Sẽ với các tác phẩm sắp đặt và đa phương tiện của các nghệ sĩ đến từ New Zealand: Sorawit Songsataya, Chris Ulutupu và Georgina May Young. Đây là một trong chuỗi những hoạt động kỷ niệm 50 năm thiết lập quan hệ ngoại giao Việt Nam - New Zealand trong năm 2025.
The New Zealand Embassy in Vietnam, Heritage Art Space and the Vietnam Women’s Museum are pleased to present the exhibition That Tomorrow Will Be showcasing outstanding installation and media works of artists from New Zealand: Sorawit Songsataya, Chris Ulutupu, and Georgina May Young. This is one of a series of activities celebrating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Viet Nam and New Zealand in 2025.
Triển lãm sẽ diễn ra từ 10:00 – 19:00 hàng ngày, từ 15 – 23.08.2025 (buổi khai mạc vào hồi 15.00 ngày 14.08.2025, buổi trò chuyện mở giữa nhóm nghệ sĩ và giám tuyển với công chúng vào 15:00 ngày 16.08.2025) tại phòng triển lãm tầng 1 của Bảo tàng Phụ nữ Việt Nam, 36 Lý Thường Kiệt, Phường Cửa Nam, Hà Nội.
Sorawit Songsataya mang tới triển lãm các tác phẩm điêu khắc bằng mây – Thiết bị nghe (I – X), đề xuất việc nghe một cách chủ động những đường viền nhịp điệu của mặt đất, một trải nghiệm âm thanh qua xúc giác nhằm xóa nhòa ranh giới giữa sinh học, địa lý và sinh thái. Kẻ Lạ Trên Phố của Chris Ulutupu là một chuỗi hình ảnh thuộc loạt tác phẩm lớn hơn, khám phá những cuộc chạm trán ban đầu giữa hai nền văn hóa. Loạt tác phẩm họa tiết thêu tay của Georgina May Young gợi ra thực hành chậm rãi và tỉ mỉ, chiêm nghiệm về tiềm năng to lớn và tri thức cổ xưa được lưu giữ nơi mặt đất.
Triển lãm được đồng giám tuyển bởi Melanie Tangaere Baldwin, Dilohana Lekamge, Milly Mitchell-Anyon, Simon Palenski và Amy Weng. Sự kiện là một phần của một dự án lưu trú nghệ thuật đang được triển khai nhằm mở rộng mối liên hệ giữa nghệ sĩ và giám tuyển ở Aotearoa New Zealand và Việt Nam, tiếp nối chuyến thăm và làm việc của nhóm các giám tuyển người New Zealand để giao lưu và kết nối với cộng đồng những người làm nghệ thuật tại Hà Nội, Huế và TP. Hồ Chí Minh năm 2024. Triển lãm được thực hiện với sự hỗ trợ của Bộ Ngoại giao và Thương mại New Zealand, và chương trình lưu trú nghệ thuật do Quỹ Châu Á New Zealand tài trợ.

Sorawit Songsataya, Christopher Ulutupu và Georgina May Young đã quy tụ để khám phá sự đồng vọng giữa Aotearoa New Zealand và Việt Nam, hé lộ các mối quan hệ đa tầng với mỗi mảnh đất thông qua những mô hình suy ngẫm của việc kể chuyện. Triển lãm đóng vai trò như một lời dẫn nhập vào tác phẩm của họ, với hy vọng hình thành những gắn kết lâu dài.”

The exhibition will be open to the public from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM daily, from15 to 23 August 2025, at the gallery on Fl.1 of the Vietnamese Women’s Museum, 36 Lý Thường Kiệt Street, Cửa Nam Ward, Hanoi. The opening ceremony will take place at 15.00 on 14 August 2025. The public talk will take place at 15:00 on 16.08.2025.
Sorawit Songsataya presents Listening Devices (I – X), a series of rattan sculptures inviting an active listening to the rhythmic contours of the earth—a tactile sonic experience that dissolves the boundaries between biology, geography, and ecology. Chris Ulutupu’s New Kid in Town comprises a set of vignettes from a larger series that explores moments of first encounters between two cultures. Georgina May Young’s hand-embroidered textile series evokes a slow and meticulous practice, contemplating the potent potential and ancient knowledge held in the earth.
This exhibition was collectively curated by Melanie Tangaere Baldwin, Dilohana Lekamge, Milly Mitchell-Anyon, Simon Palenski, and Amy Weng as part of an ongoing art residency project to extend connections between artists and curators in Aotearoa New Zealand and Viet Nam and as a follow-up of the visit by a group of New Zealand curators to Viet Nam to engage and connect with the art communities in Hanoi, Hue, and Ho Chi Minh City in 2024. The exhibition is sponsored by the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade and the art residency by Asia New Zealand Foundation.
“That Tomorrow Will Be is a promise to connect again. Sorawit Songsataya, Christopher Ulutupu and Georgina May Young have been brought together to explore resonances between Aotearoa New Zealand and Vietnam, through speculative modes of storytelling that reveal multilayered relationships with the land.
